Title of publication: Phantom Shanghai
Name of artist / publisher: Greg Girard / The Magenta Foundation
>
Greg’s photographs capture perfectly Shanghai the way I see it: complex, chaotic, massive, intense and full of contrasts. His photographs provide snapshots of a life that is vanishing, and reveal the effects of the urban transformation in the people and their lifestyles. Although being an architect myself, I love that he does not focus on the architecture but the place. This book makes me think about what we gain and what we lose in these urban transformations.

Title of publication: Ringier Annual report 2007
Name of artist: Fischli and Weiss
Publisher: Ringier
I could talk about it for an hour or so, but I´ll quickly give three reasons why I think it´s so good. And then you have to get it and see for yourself. First, the weirdness in the combination of an 800 pages tale of Life and Death, told through magazine advertisements and then the Ringier company´s annual report, is superb. It´s so strange but logic at the same time. Second, I think the contradiction in the editing is very well done. The rhythm of the story, which unfolds by turning page after page, is in contrast with the large number of pages; the book becomes almost unreadable. And third, it´s free! You can order it through the company´s website and they ship it anywhere in the world, free of charge…
