Book Description: Donald Trump’s star sits prominently on Hollywood Boulevard, in front of the Hollywood and Highland Centre. During the current election cycle, the star endured several publicised episodes of vandalism, including a spray-painted swastika and “mute” icon. On the same day Trump was officially nominated as the Republican Party’s presidential candidate, a tiny wall sprung up around his star on the Hollywood walk of fame. Between April and May 2016, Kenneth O Halloran photographed the reaction of visitors who unexpectedly came across the star on Hollywood Boulevard, pedestrians greeted the star with obscene hand gestures, jumped up and down on it, spat on it and photographed it. From time to time it was defaced with ink, shaving cream, and tomato Ketchup. The representation of the Republican nominee for president was looked on by most with a mixture surprise and anger and disbelief.
