Book Description: The statue: A symbol of power, beauty and historic value. Although, those are the dogmas it was created with. Placing the sculpture in contexts of violence, the piece no longer represents its maker’s ideas but seems to take on a life of its own. Getting beheaded by Isis; beat up by protestants, or buried after being cut in pieces in the outbacks of Berlin. Ages after the classical sculptor created his sculpture, I reconsider its symbolic meaning in the context of today’s violent events by using photography, sculpture, found footage and digitally manipulated documentation.
