When to Shake Hands, Hug or Kiss by Adrian Samson for the New York Times

A visual guide to making friends all around the world for the New York Times.

For this editorial feature commissioned by the New York Times, we collaborated with photographer Adrian Samson on a series of images to accompany “A Traveler’s Guide to Customs: When to Shake Hands, Hug or Kiss”. Whether touching noses in New Zealand or bending down and touching an elder’s feet in India, everything is explained in pictures. Samson was born in Slovakia and lives in London; both of which favour a firm handshake.

Art Direction: Bruno Ceschel and Antonio de Luca
