Bruno Ceschel, the voice of the selfpublishing revolution and contemporary photography

Self Publish, Be Happy founder Bruno Ceschel has become a spokesperson for the new generation of artists who have revolutionised contemporary photography and publishing. Since the organisation was founded in 2010 he has given many lectures about the phenomenon and rallied support and recognition for its protagonists around the world. Public speaking has become a fundamental part of Self Publish, Be Happy’s mission, engaging with audiences of students and the general public in Europe, the Americas and Asia.

With the publication of the book Self Publish, Be Happy: A Photobook Manual and Manifesto (Aperture, 2015) Ceschel went on an extensive book tour of universities and art institutions in Europe and the United States.

Contemporary photography, self publishing, and the role of photography in the digital age are some of the themes explored in the lectures Ceschel is offering at the moment.

Bruno Ceschel has given lectures at organisations like MoMA PS1 (United States), La Fábrica (Spain), FOAM (Netherlands), MUAC (Mexico), C/O Berlin (Germany), Fabrica (Italy), IMA (Japan), Whitechapel Gallery and Tate Modern (Britain) and in universities like Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne (Switzerland), University of the Arts London, Royal College of Art (Britain), Maryland Institute College of Art, School of Visual Arts, Rutgers University, Ithaca College and Cornell University (United States).
